Canadian born Linda Powell is a versatile and inventive painter who draws her inspiration from many subject areas reflecting broad interests. Linda’s formal training in art at Yale University in the US. and St Xavier’s in Canada, centred on life drawing and sculpture but more recently she is better known for her paintings.
Linda’s work demonstrates a keen understanding of colour and expert drawing ability. Many paintings display rigorous figurative principles. Some sideline these, in favour of experimental methods of applying paint to explore design, using colour and texture. Linda enjoys moving between different media and modes of working which challenge and refresh her focus.
Linda has an enthusiastic body of students and runs workshops and weekly classes throughout the year.
Her work features in private collections on both sides of the ocean, but more recently in London with the Society of Equestrian Artists, and several Hampshire and Wiltshire galleries. Work may be viewed by appointment in her studio at Project Workshops and during twice yearly open weekends. Enquiries and commissions are welcome.
